THERAPY FOR ADHD

Supporting neurodivergent women in Camp Hill and online throughout PA & NJ

ADHD looks different for women.

The world has a picture of what ADHD looks like, and it’s not like you and me.

There’s research about ADHD in men and young boys, but ADHD in women has been missed and misunderstood for a very long time. You’re not a hyperactive school-aged boy, but your experience of ADHD is still valid even if it’s been invisible to the outside world, or maybe even invisible to you.

Maybe you:

  • Have a ton of hobbies and get excited about new things quickly

  • Struggle to be on time for things and end up being extremely early (or late)

  • Feel like keeping your house clean is next to impossible. You’re self conscious about inviting people over (or you end up deep diving into an intense cleaning session).

  • Wonder why it’s so hard to stay motivated and organized. Every task is filled with roadblocks and detours, or your focus can be so razor sharp that everything else in the world fades away…and not always in a good way.

  • Wish that you could understand yourself better and that the important people in your life could too

  • Feel like an imposter, trying to do life like everyone else even though it doesn’t seem to be working. You worry you’re failing or disappointing the people you care about.

how i can help

A deeper understanding of you and ADHD

Let’s work together to help you understand yourself and ADHD in new and deeper ways. As a neurodivergent therapist, I help women to explore their identity and their place in the neurodivergent community. It might sound simple, but this can help you see yourself in an entirely new way…and it can change your life.

Being neurodivergent-affirming simply means that I am focusing on how we, as ADHD women, can survive in a world that was not built for our form of diversity. The key difference is the belief that the world is the one failing you and not the other way around.

In our work together, we’ll discuss ableism and how it shows up in your life. Because ADHD is not a moral failure—it simply means your brain is wired differently.

You have permission to do things differently!

So let’s find what works best for you.

Once you understand yourself, it’s easier for others to understand you too. We’ll spend time looking at your relationships and how to have healthy, fulfilling connections with the people you live with, work with, and have fun with. I can help you experience healthier relationships and less fear of judgment. And the less you fear judgment, the more you can truly be your authentic self.

Frequently asked questions

  • Therapy for ADHD can help you learn to embrace what works best for you and let go of expectations or pressure you may be putting on yourself to do things like “everybody else.” It can lead you to a deeper understanding of who you are, increase confidence, and help you feel a sense of accomplishment and self-acceptance. It can also help you explore ways to improve executive functioning skills (if that is important to you) and build healthier relationships.

  • My approach to therapy for ADHD is person-centered, meaning that I create a customized approach specific to each person. I’m trained in a number of therapies including EMDR, Brainspotting, and DBT. The heart of the approach is to be neurodivergent-affirming, focusing on your strengths rather than taking a perspective of “fixing” perceived problems or deficits.

  • Neurodivergent-affirming therapy is founded on the belief that your brain works differently than neurotypical people…and that’s okay. You are not a problem to fix. You don’t need to just go buy another planner. You exist in a world that is not designed for you. Neurodivergent-affirming therapy focuses on finding ways to help you embrace who you are and what works best for you.
