Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

  • Bee-You Counseling is owned and operated out of Central Pennsylvania! We are a virtual practice meaning we can serve anyone located within the state. Sessions take place over a HIPPA compliant video chat.

Occasionally, Bee-You Counseling offers walk & talk therapy for local clients. Ask your therapist about if walk & talk therapy is right for you and your healing journey.

  • Currently, Bee-You Counseling does not take insurance. We would be considered an out of network provider.

Reasons why we do not work with insurance companies:

    • Insurance requires a diagnosis (we do not believe in clients needing a diagnosis unless requested)

    • Insurance companies can request to audit a chart leaving it hard to maintain privacy

    • Insurance can limit how many sessions you can have with your therapist

    • Insurance can dictate when and where sessions take place

A Note: We offer Superbills at the request of a client. They may seek reimbursement from their insurance company.

    **Not applicable to interns.

  • Individual sessions: $145

    Couples sessions: $165

    Intern rate: $65

No Show/Late Cancellation Fees: Full Rate

    Assessments:

    ADHD: $300

    Autism: $500

Sliding scale options (for therapy services only) are available. Please consider the below Green Bottle Sliding Scale Model before requesting a sliding scale fee.

The rates Bee-You charges reflect not only the specialized and affirming services we offer but also allow us to compensate support staff adequately, ensuring that you receive the best care and attention possible. Additionally, the owner and staff identify varying forms of neurodivergent. We understand firsthand the added financial burdens and unique challenges that often accompany being a neurodivergent individual. These rates aid in covering extra costs, enabling us to continue to serve and advocate for the neurodivergent community effectively.

  • Finding the right therapist for you takes time and research. Once you’ve found a therapist, the first session is a “get to know each other” session. This way you can see if you are comfortable with the therapist and are open to therapy.

If we are a good fit for you, welcome to the hive! If not, Bee-You Counseling is more than happy to give you a list of referrals that may fit your needs.

  • An intake session is a 50-60 minute conversation with your provider. This typically includes the therapist asking guided questions to get to know you and whatever you would like to work on.

  • That depends! What are your goals? How frequently or infrequently would you like to attend therapy? How quickly would you like to see change or healing occur?

  • On January 1, 2022, congress enacted a "No Surprises Act", which is a "new federal protection against surprise medical bills that take effect in 2022. Surprise medical bills arise when insured consumers inadvertently receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers they did not choose". Under the law, healthcare providers, including mental health providers, must give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services.

Good Faith Violation: Not At Bee-You Counseling

If you are an existing client at Bee-You Counseling, this is unlikely to affect our work together. There will be no situation in which you would "inadvertently" receive care from a member of our team. Also, the final rules about how to implement this in a practice such as Bee-You Counseling have not even been written yet by the federal government. We are an "out of network" practice for all insurance companies. You will always be made aware of the cost via the website, consent forms, and verbal confirmation by the provider.

    APPOINTMENTS

If you are currently working with a clinician at Bee-You Counseling, you are already aware of the costs of your therapy appointment. We believe in transparency, which is why fees are listed at numerous places on our website, discussed explicitly during initial phone consultations, and during your initial session.

    HONESTY, INTEGRITY, & TRANSPARENCY

Please know: Bee-You Counseling will remain honest and transparent with you about the costs of the services agreed upon. You will have "no surprises" at our practice in regard to fees. In the meantime, you may certainly ask your clinician, intake coordinator, or billing department about any costs about which you may be unsure, and you will be provided with clear information. Please feel free to contact your clinician if you have any related questions.
